what do Scouts do?

Its international aspect gives Scouting a special appeal, and many Scouts now travel abroad during their time in the section. In 2007, 40,000 Scouts from around the world attended the World Jamboree in the UK, and Scouts regularly participate in international camps and experiences both on home soil and abroad, each of them a unique experience in its own right.

The 1st Southwold Scouts have recently been in touch with Scout Groups around the world by means of amatuer radio. Thanks to the members of the Leiston Amatuer Radio Society who recently spent the weekend setting up their equipment at our Scout Hall so that our Cubs and Scouts could experience the magic of the radio waves. This event is called Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) and helps our youngster towards their communications badge.
